Invisalign® FAQs

Here are some commonly asked questions.

Who is Invisalign treatment for?
Invisalign treatment is a great option for teens and adults alike. It can also be a great option for children depending on the type of dental issues they face. As the parent, you’ll need to make sure your child is wearing their aligners long enough for them to actually work (typically 20-22 hours of the day).
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
While treatment will vary per patient, many start seeing a visible difference in their smiles within a matter of weeks. Full treatment can last anywhere from 12-18 months depending on your specific dental issues and goals. That’s half the time as traditional braces!
How do I look after my Invisalign aligners?

You should always start by rinsing your Invisalign aligners with lukewarm water. Using water that’s too hot can damage them. You should also only use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently brush them (make sure you brush your teeth before putting them back in too!)

Alternatively, you can also soak them in any retainer or denture cleaners by following the product instructions. There are specific Invisalign cleaning systems on the market too.

Don’t put your Invisalign aligners back in if your teeth are not cleaned. Food debris that is stuck between your teeth can discolour your aligners and cause calcium and bacteria buildup.

How often are Invisalign aligners changed?
Because your smile will start to change rapidly, your Invisalign aligners will need to be changed at least every two weeks but again, this will vary per patient. Your dentist will end up determining how often you’ll need to book appointments.
